"Oh good.” Jemma’s nerves calm themselves slightly. She’d somehow convinced herself that Director Hill would refuse to allow her to lend her expertise to Tony Stark’s venture.
She listens carefully to the instructions, wanting desperately to prove that she could be an asset to S.H.I.E.L.D. outside of the lab again.
“Both sides of the field, ma’am?” Her own head fell to the side. The thought didn’t scare her, but it would be good for her to prepare. It hadn’t occurred to her that Stark’s intentions would put her in opposition to her duty to S.H.I.E.L.D. “Do you think it will come to that?”
Refuse? Maria Hill would absolutely JUMP at the chance to have one of her own close to Stark without having to do it herself. It’s the perfect opportunity- and Maria can’t stop seeing it as such, even though at this point it’s merely an extended INVITATION to one of her brightest minds.
A brisk nod. She hums gently, wondering if maybe her sports allusion missed the mark–
But Simmons has a genius-level intellect. She deserves SOME credit.
"I want to be transparent with you, Agent Simmons. If you agree to this opportunity, you will be expected to report back to S.H.I.E.L.D. with the details of the project.” Non-disclosure agreement or not.
